New "God"

This was selected as the primary painting for this exhibit as the contents represented the way life really was in the USSR. In 1968 in the Soviet Union you could not open your mouth to speak without permission from the soviets. The creation of this painting was secret because of the contents. At the top center is Lenin, who is the epitome of the new life. The populous was told to consider him as the new Christ, which is why he has a halo over his head. At the bottom on the left is the new “Bible” where is starts by saying… “First there was word. This word was Lenin. Lenin gave birth to Stalin. Stalin gave birth to Dzershinsky (chief KGB). Dzershinsky gave birth to Beria, etc”. The slotted figure out of ribbons on the lower right of the painting represents everything that is left of the human person, or anyone living in the soviet union – Not a real person, just an awkward image. At the top right is the portrait of Stalin who has a skull on his head instead of a military hat. Stalin was responsible for the murder of 60 million people. There has been no other person in history that murdered so many people. In the center of the painting is a running Arefiev. The head over the new “Bible” is pasted into an acceptable form by the USSR.
