Heroes of Mother Russia
5' by 3' Oil and mixed media on canvas

The whip-lashed female figure represents new Russia. Tied to her are the heads of the heroes starting from 1917. Nicholas II happened to be the last Czar of Russia. Lenin is the new icon of Russia. Dzershinsky is the leader of the KGB. Stalin governed over Russian land for over 30 years. Thus, Stalin's face is the largest. He is native to Georgia and could hardly even speak Russian. Stalin's father, a shoemaker, is portrayed on the right of the painting. Holding the hammer with his left hand is a message: "For Mother Land, For Stalin". Symbolizing suffering in Russia are the two pierced hands of Jesus. During the course of the Soviet legacy over 60 million Russians were killed.
